Wooop! Finally after months of waiting and some minor (they felt major at the time) setbacks, we’re back on course! We’ve moved in to our new home in Inverness and things are looking up. Moving has definitely taken my mind off of things, especially matters of the heart, and it helps that I’m loving our new home. It’s MUCH smaller than our old place, but I prefer that. It just means trying to be much more creative in finding room to store ALL my cake stuff, and making it more of a home.
I think moving house especially somewhat long distances is stressful at the best of times, but Kyle and I worked as a team…a pretty good one at that, and we got everything packed and unpacked in what felt like far too long…and we’re still working on the unpacking bit. And although we closed a very big chapter in our life story..the next one is going to be even more exciting, I’m sure of it. I’m smiling now just thinking of the move itself. Story time!
We were carrying in mattresses and at this point it was coming on midnight, (the kids were thankfully with their grandparents) and exhaustion was setting in. The hysterical kind. Kyle suggested I have a quick nap…but I knew that if I did…I wouldn’t get up til the morning. So we powered through. So throughout the move, this little garden snail thought it would be a great idea to start crossing our path, I must’ve moved him about a dozen times throughout the evening. He insisted though…that he needed to cross in front of us when carrying heavy things. So exhaustion is setting in big time, I’m helping Kyle with the mattresses…and the giggles set in. I’m laughing at EVERYTHING. The way Kyle is holding the mattress up, the way he has the most serious face when I’m about to drop the mattress. Then I start to panic because we’re halfway up the garden steps when I remember the snail, and we’re terrified of squishing the poor thing. And I spot him. He’s moved faster than I thought a snail ever could and he’s in between the top step and the lower step and it was as if at that moment he stopped to look up at me and say ‘hey..I know you’re struggling with that mattress, but I thought I’d make things more awkward for you…you’re welcome’ and guys. I lost it. I was crying from laughing, trying to hold my end of the mattress up…trying to warn Kyle not to squish our new wee friend. We made it inside…the snail survived, (although I’m sure he has a death wish because I almost squashed him the next day with a bag of rubbish and then I had to climb in to the outside bin to get him out! Gross) and as soon as that mattress made it inside…I passed out on it. Best. Sleep. Ever. Story time over…back to business!!! π¬πOh and on a side note…Kyle and I? Who the hell knows. All I do know is that at the end of the day, we love each other, we’re working through things, and we are committed to being 100% open with one another. We’re just so much better together/apart πππ π€·π»ββοΈ going with the flow…Again…I digress π
We had our internet connected for a whole 2 days before we lost it again. And now it looks like an engineer will have to come out and check the connection so y’all are gonna have to bear with me a wee while longer. I do have some exciting news though! It’s actually been pretty non stop since moving in. I’ve already had a few orders so with that, unpacking and trying to work without internet has been…..fun, to say the least π I’m looking forward to a few nights just chilling!
Anyway my news! I’ll be showcasing my candles, including my latest Scottish Bru candle…(that won’t be available to order until nextweek) soaps, jars and Sprinkle racks for Donut Eat Bakery at the Black Isle Show in Muir of Ord on August 4th! I’m so excited and I’m planning on getting some gift hampers made up for Christmas. I know, I know. Who wants to hear about Christmas now…but SUURIOUSLY…it sneaks up on us so quickly π I would love to know your thoughts too….do you guys prefer boxed hampers or hessian gift bags?! Please comment below. I would TOTALLY love your feedback!
I’ve also signed up for a few upcoming local wedding fairs so I’ll keep you updated on that front too.
So if you’re in the Inverness area, please don’t hesitate to get in touch for a cake. Once I get a reliable internet connection again I will be posting more recipes and tutorials so don’t forget to subscribe to my blog π I’ll also be sharing a lot more vegan recipes. It’s how I’m rolling lately π€·π»ββοΈπ
